About Daybreak
Daybreak was founded to give professional creatives a place to share their work off social media.
Given the speed of AI development for image generation and the pressure it's put on creatives everywhere, we are building a network that reflects the way we interact offline: human to human, helping each other make great work that meets the needs of our clients.
The Business of Daybreak
We operate Daybreak as a for-profit business.
We choose to not place advertisements on the site because ads detract from the overall experience. We also don't track or sell members' or visitors' data. That's not our style and it's not our business.
Instead, we opt to have a direct relationship with our customers. That means it's on us to build valuable features that you want to pay for.
As a company, we believe it's possible to build a business that creates a lot of value for its customers, earns enough to support its development and operation, and is a net contributor to the creative industry. This goes against the grain of how online software has been sold for the last twenty years, but if that resonates with you, join us.
Membership
Membership to Daybreak is free. We want all creatives everywhere to join and contribute to the community. We have two types of members:
1. Full-time, commercial (B2B) creatives who want to promote their work and get hired.
- These members must be approved to ensure that they meet the full-time and commercial qualifications.
- Profiles consist of contact information and searchable descriptions of their work.
- Their posts are shared to the Gallery, which is a global view of recently posted work, and to their followers' feeds (like social media). Each new post replaces the previous post.
- If you're a photographer, director, cinematographer, or other professional creative, this is your category.
2. Creative industry professionals who hire, work with, support, keep up with, or just love creatives.
- These members don't require approval.
- Profiles consist of contact information.
- Their posts are only shared to their followers' feeds (like social media). Each new post replaces the previous post.
- If you're a producer, photo editor, art producer, rep, or ad agency creative, this is your category.
Why differentiate between member types? People in our industry need different things from a professional network based on the roles they play. Whether you want to post your work, track industry trends, keep up with specific creatives you have in mind for an upcoming project, discover new talent, or just be part of the community, we want to tailor your profile to your needs.
Premium Features
Daybreak is supported by members who subscribe to our premium features. All feature sets are available to both types of members. These currently include:
1. Creative Promotion ($15/month or $150/year)
- Build a social portfolio
- Video posts
- Multi-image stories (coming soon)
- Profile analytics (coming soon)
2. Creative Relationship Management (CRM) ($tbd)
Whether you currently use a spreadsheet or your memory to keep track of who does what and where, we've developed a much better system: a lightweight CRM that functions like a living rolodex. When you add a Daybreak member to your CRM, their profile information is pulled into your database and automatically updated whenever they edit their profile or share work. You can also save images and flag creatives for specific projects. This feature is in beta testing.
Team
Daybreak Directory was founded by photographer Rob Culpepper and engineer Jake Huggart to create a home for professional creatives in an industry under pressure.
